What a chemical peel does
During a chemical peel, a special acid-based composition is applied to the skin. It removes dead skin cells and impurities, as a result the surface layer of the skin is renewed, the texture is evened out, inflammation and pigmentation are reduced.
The depth of impact varies, so there are two main types of chemical facial peeling in the clinic.
Superficial or midline
- Superficial peeling thins the stratum corneum (the layer of dead skin cells on the surface of the skin) and stimulates cell division in the basal layer (the bottom row of epidermal cells, the top layer of skin). Conducted by the course. No recovery period is required: you can return to your normal routine immediately after the procedure
- Medium peeling is prescribed for severe signs of aging and other noticeable skin defects. The effect is noticeable after the first procedure. Recovery lasts 7–10 days
After superficial peeling, slight redness and moderate peeling are possible, sometimes only dry skin, and in some patients these reactions are absent. The skin recovers in 3–5 days.
Superficial peelings are carried out all year round with the mandatory use of products with SPF. Medium peels are recommended to be carried out in seasons with the least solar activity, autumn and winter: ultraviolet radiation can provoke the appearance of pigmentation.

The severity of the effect depends on the type of peeling and the condition of the skin.
Feelings and course
Modern formulations reduce discomfort during the procedure. The standard recommended course of superficial peels is 4–7 procedures with an interval of 7–10 days.
The doctor selects the type of peeling, depth of exposure, active substance and number of procedures individually during an in-person consultation.
